January 16, 2010 05:46 AM European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) through South East Asia Regional Initiative Forum (SEARIF) gave credence to GMF AeroAsia to host Safety Management System (SMS) Assessment Training in Jakarta on 11-15 January 2010. SEARIF which is headquartered in Bangkok is an organization aims to help countries in Southeast Asia focusing on safety. Five-days training were followed by representatives of the authority civil aviation of Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, and Malaysia and representative of two operators. SEARIF also gave an opp ortunity to GMF which sent its three representatives as participants in training. "This training is very useful for GMF, "said Mr. Fuad Abdullah, VP Quality Assurance and Safety GMF who participated in the training. The training material focused on how to conduct audit or assessment of the implementation of SMS in a corporate organization, both airlines and maintenance repair station. Provision of material carried out through several models such as discussion, practice and exercise. "Training is essential to improve implementat ion of SMS in GMF, "said Mr. Fuad. Implementation of SMS in GMF got positive appreciation of Mr. Rogier van der Velden, a former Dutch civil aviation authority of assigned SEARIF this training guide. "GMF is very creative in designing and implementing SMS, "said Mr. Rogier van der Velden. So far this SMS is implemented in more airlines. According to Mr. Velden, GMF could be one example of a MRO company in the implementation of SMS because of its creativity in applying the safety management system. |
