Tangerang, December 21 st , 2021 – PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk (“GMF”, “ticker code: GMFI”) won the Adhikara Rekayasa for the "Engineering, Procurement, & Construction" category in the "2021 Indonesian Engineers Association Award" (2021 PII Award) on Friday (17/12). The Adhikara Rekayasa was awarded by the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) to institutions that use the industrial profession to produce spectacular, monumental and extensive benefits for the nation’s welfare. The award was handed over directly by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto to GMF SmartDock Project Leader Nanang Yulian at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center.

This award was given for the Company’s innovation in developing SmartDock to support the modernization and replacement of center wing box (CWB) for C130H owned by the Indonesian Air Force. The project itself is projected to begin at the end of 2021. "Each type of aircraft requires a different dock. To build GMF readiness for C130H modernization and CWB replacement project, GMF took the initiative to develop SmartDock designed specifically for this type of aircraft. This dock is also equipped with advanced features that support automation while maintaining safety aspects," explained Nanang.

These features include live monitoring using CCTV to monitor maintenance work via smartphone, automatic doors equipped with facial recognition equipped to improve security and limit access for unauthorized personnel, laser measuring devices, pneumatic and electrical sources to support maintenance activities, emergency alarms, and emergency tools. In line with the Company's efforts in maintaining occupational safety and health, SmartDock is also equipped with movement proximity sensors supported by live cameras, warning indicators, and pneumatic brakes to prevent incidents when moved. To ease the process of removal and storage, SmartDock is designed with a simple unloading system and lightweight materials but still meets the safety standards. "In the process, GMF has always coordinated with aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin. After being audited, SmartDock was declared meeting the requirements and able to be used for the maintenance," said Nanang.

Not only make aircraft maintenance easier, SmartDock also enables the monitoring process to be done anywhere through live monitoring. SmartDock is also claimed to encourage work productivity by monitoring the performance of personnel on duty, as well as encouraging cost efficiency because the dock can be self-produced by GMF. "SmartDock proves that GMF is still able to create innovation during COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, this award will motivate GMF to continuously innovate, both related to aircraft maintenance or other supporting equipment," concluded Nanang.
