Majalengka, April 21st 2025 — Three strategic Indonesian institutions, namely PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk (GMF), PT Bandarudara Internasional Jawa Barat (BIJB), and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), signed two important agreements for the Development of the Sustainable Aerospace Park Kertajati on Monday, April 21st, at Kertajati International Airport, Majalengka.

The signing of the Head of Agreement (HoA) was conducted by GMF’s CEO, Andi Fahrurrozi, who also serves as the Chairman of the Indonesia Aircraft Maintenance Services Association (IAMSA), together with the Acting President Director of BIJB, Muhammad Singgih. The HoA forms the basis for strategic cooperation in the development and management of the Kertajati Aerospace Park, which will be executed through a Joint Operation (KSO) scheme.

Furthermore, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the three parties, represented by the Secretary of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Secretary of Bappenas, Teni Widuriyanti, GMF’s CEO Andi Fahrurrozi, and Acting President Director of BIJB, Muhammad Singgih. This MoU strengthens the commitment to making Kertajati an integrated and sustainable national aerospace industry hub.

The signing ceremonies were witnessed by national and regional stakeholders, including the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Dudy Purwagandhi, Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman, and the Regent of Majalengka, Eman Suherman.

GMF, as the anchor tenant, will build Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities and also assume responsibility for managing the park. Meanwhile, BIJB will provide land and infrastructure, as well as ensure compliance with licensing requirements. Bappenas plays a vital role in the synchronization of national policies, strengthening connectivity, and accelerating the proposal for Special Economic Zone (KEK) status.

Andi Fahrurrozi, CEO of GMF, stated. “The development of the Sustainable Aerospace Park Kertajati is part of GMF’s grand strategy to expand national MRO capabilities and create an independent, integrated, and globally competitive aviation industry ecosystem. We believe Kertajati can become a new gravity center for Indonesia’s aerospace industry, attract more investments, create job opportunities, and reduce reliance on foreign services.”

Muhamad Singgih, Acting President Director of BIJB, also expressed his hopes, saying, “Through our collaboration with GMF, BIJB expects that Kertajati’s traffic and activities will increase, not only in airline services and passengers but also as the initial step for Kertajati’s growth as a center for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul along with its ecosystem.”

The scope of collaboration includes the development of a master plan, innovative business models and financing, provision of fiscal/non-fiscal incentives, and support facilities such as training centers, aircraft component manufacturing, and modern warehousing.

This initiative marks an important milestone in advancing the independence of the national aerospace industry and enhancing Indonesia’s position in the global aviation supply chain.

“We believe this synergy not only builds an industrial area but also lays the foundation for the future of the national aviation industry. GMF is committed to ensuring that every step forward is taken with high standards, full of innovation, and brings tangible benefits to the nation,” concluded Andi Fahrurrozi.
