Tangerang, April 08th 2026PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk (GMF), through its SBU Defense Industry, has officially signed an extension of its technical agreement on Friday (March 27) in Bandung, at the Headquarters of the Indonesian Air Force Materiel Maintenance Command (Koharmatau), as part of efforts to strengthen strategic collaboration in supporting the maintenance of Indonesian Air Force aircraft. This technical agreement is an extension of the previous cooperation for the 2021–2026 period, which concluded this year, and is now continued for the 2026–2028 period with an expanded scope. Under the latest agreement, the collaboration is no longer limited to the C-130 Hercules aircraft series but now includes a broader range of aircraft, namely the Boeing 737 Series, Airbus A400M, Dassault Falcon 8X, and Airbus Helicopters Super Puma AS332L1. The agreement was signed by Air Vice Marshal Ir. Suryanto, Commander of Koharmatau, and Andi Fahrurrozi, GMF CEO.

The extension of this cooperation includes the optimization of resources in aircraft maintenance through programs such as On-the-Job Training (OJT), education and training initiatives, as well as the management of related aircraft technical publications. In addition, the collaboration also covers the duplication and fabrication of tools and equipment to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of domestic aircraft maintenance.

GMF CEO, Andi Fahrurrozi, emphasized that the expanded scope of cooperation represents a concrete step in supporting national defense operational readiness. “This expanded collaboration reflects the government’s trust in GMF’s capabilities. It is also a strategic move, considering the technological complexity and significant investment required to develop maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities,” he stated.

As part of efforts to strengthen defense maintenance capabilities, GMF will also be involved in knowledge transfer initiatives through OJT programs for Falcon 8X maintenance, which is currently carried out in collaboration with international partners and will gradually be fully transferred to GMF’s facilities. Furthermore, the development of maintenance capabilities for the Airbus A400M is being comprehensively prepared.

Through this agreement, GMF and Koharmatau reaffirm their commitment to strengthening synergy in supporting the operational readiness of the Indonesian Air Force, while also advancing national self-reliance in the sustainable management and maintenance of defense equipment, and reinforcing GMF’s position as a competitive MRO service provider at both national and global levels.
